Health @ Williamsburg Waterfront Pool Parties

And You Will Know us by The Trail of Dead didn't get to play The Pool Party yesterday, due to lightning. As the storm rolled in, organizers were forced to clear out the state park for safety issues. A good call, as it did get pretty crazy about 15 minutes after the place was emptied out.


Before that disappointment, we were treated to some great bands. Grupo Fantasma, Health, and Black Lips. Grupo Fantasma kicked things off with a very tight set of latin music. It was an odd pairing with the other 3 (2) bands, but they were excellent. (I will post some pictures of their set shortly, as well as from the really wild Black Lips set).

Mission of Burma @ Williamsburg Waterfront

Mission of Burma proved they still have the chops, and played a stellar set during yesterday's Pool Party at Williamsburg Waterfront.

Pool Parties 2009 kickoff at Williamsburg Waterfront

Yesterday, the 2009 Jelly Pool Parties at Williamsburg Waterfront got off to a great start. The lineup consisted of Jemina Pearl, Ponytail, Fucked Up and Mission of Burma.
The new venue (moved from McCarren pool) is a brand new state park with the beautiful backdrop of the NYC skyline.

MGMT and The Ting Tings @ McCarren Pool

This show was jammed. When I pulled up, there were mobs of people for blocks.
The photo pit was jammed too. Anyone with a VIP passes kind of made their way into the pit, and it was really hard to get off a shot. But the show was good, and the crowd was way into it.
