Pela broke up:(

One of my absolute favorite Brooklyn based bands, Pela just announced that they have split up.
If you ever saw them live, you know what a great show they put on.
They were a band that certainly deserved a lot more recognition. Their only release Anytown Graffiti is an excellent album, but even that pales in comparison to how awesome they were to see live.
I am very sad to hear the news that they have split, and I wish them the best in their future endeavors.

Pela @ Music Hall Of Williamsburg

Pela played the venue formerly known as Northsix Wednesday night with Apollo sunshine, and Liam Finn, son of Crowded House lead singer Neil Finn.
Great show all around. Pela rocked hard as usual. They put on a great show, and the sold out crowd just loved 'em. Liam Finn and EJ did some really awesome looping stuff turning their duo into an incredibly huge sound.

Pela played Mercury Lounge

Tuesday night at Mercury Lounge was the sold out record release show for Pela's new album Anytown Grafitti. It was my first time seeing them live, and they did not disappoint.
Opening the show was Man In Gray, Takka Takka and Project Jenny, Project Jan.

PJPJ got the crowd going with their funky dance beats. Funny and catchy. I dig 'em. The duo features a pretty simple setup vocals and synth and beats, but the beats are fly and the lyrics are dope yo.

What can I say about Pela? They are being touted as THE buzz band from NYC right now. This album should be huge, and they just plain kick ass live. The band is tight, and they built up to a huge amount of energy for the completely packed house.

They will playing Mercury Lounge again for two dates in May. See them now while you still have a chance at getting tickets.
