Malkmus and the Jicks played the always fantastic Maxwell's in Hoboken last night. It sold out in about two minutes, and I consider myself very lucky for getting in.The band now features former Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss, and they sounded great together.
Malkmus, sporting a new mustache, ripped through much of his post-Pavement catalog and tore the place down. Saturday night they headlined the Plug Awards, hosted by David Cross, but last night was an even more intimate venue, and it was great to see them at such a small place.
