Crowded House has been searching for a drummer, and recently held auditions to replace Paul Hester who took his own life in 2005. They are rumored to have hired Beck drummer Matt Sherrod.
Also, former Smiths guitarist, and current member of Modest Mouse, Johnny Marr has been writing songs with Neil Finn for the new Crowded House record.
These two pieces of news sound great to me, and I can't wait to hear the new tunes.

Reunited and it Feels so good - Crowded House
Ironically, just a few days after writing about the Crowded House farewell concert, the band has decided to get back together. They will play Coachella this year, and record a new album titled "Time On Earth". The band is in search of a new drummer. Drummer Paul Hester took his own life in 2005.This years Coachella festival also marks the return of Rage Against the Machine, and The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Crowded House concert on VH1 Classic
Last week I briefly wrote about the release of Crowded House's farewell concert on DVD. To my surprise, as I was flipping channels last night, I found the concert playing on VH1 Classic. It will be in heavy rotation for the next few weeks. If you aren't familiar with the band, aside from their 3 or 4 stateside hits, you should definitely give them a chance. Neil Finn is a fantastic songwriter, and they never got the big fame they deserved in the States. You can get the full schedule of airings here (VH1s site is damn near impossible to navigate, without getting looped back to their front page every time)

New Release Roundup
Here's the quick list of new and notable releases:
Autumn Defense-Self Titled: Pat Sansone and John Stirratt of WILCO have released their third album.
Honeydogs-Amygdala: One of my favorite bands to come out of the Minneapolis alt. country has a new album. They write good catchy up-tempo country-flavored rock songs, and their whole catalog is worth a listen.
Crowded House-Farewell To The World: Finally available, the live recording of Crowded House's farewell concert. The show was held outside the Sydney Opera House with an audience of over 120,000 people. Cruise ships filled with fans anchored in the harbor to listen to the show and watch the fireworks display. They are a band that only scored a few big hits in the states, but they should've had at least a dozen more. One of the best bands to ever come from down under. This is a great concert, and I am glad it has been released, as my crappy VHS copy is starting to fall apart.
Neko Case-Live from Austin TX.: Part of the Austin City Limits series of CDs. She already released a live album last year which was damn good, but I am not going to complain about being able to add some more Neko to my CD collection.
