Crowded House has been searching for a drummer, and recently held auditions to replace Paul Hester who took his own life in 2005. They are rumored to have hired Beck drummer Matt Sherrod.
Also, former Smiths guitarist, and current member of Modest Mouse, Johnny Marr has been writing songs with Neil Finn for the new Crowded House record.
These two pieces of news sound great to me, and I can't wait to hear the new tunes.

New Marrdest Mouse
A new tune from Modest Mouse has hit the airwaves. I've been anxiously waiting to hear their new sound, now that Johnny Marr of the Smiths has joined the band. Dashboard is a damn good sounding tune, uptempo with some horns added and the biggest bonus of all Johnny Marr.

The new album "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank" is scheduled for a March 2007 release.
